With the 4th of July at hand Fast Money’s here to make sure you play it safe. But that bottle rocket isn’t the only way you can get burned trying to be patriotic.
Nope, that’s nothing compared to investing in the auto industry.
With GM pleading its case in bankruptcy court, and Chrysler emerging from it, things couldn’t look much worse. But one maker took destiny into its own hands, and now stands alone.
Of course we’re talking – Ford.

By refusing government funding, Chief Alan Mullaly was able to control costs and introduce exciting new models without the hassle of a nagging Congress in the back seat.
“They just surpassed Toyota as the number 2 car market in the nation,” reminds Pete Najarian.
And when you combine that tidbit with Ford’s gains in market share and surge in stock price (Ford is up over 150% in 2009), you get a company that could be poised to profit.
Considering all that’s going on in the auto space, that’s no small accomplishment. In fact we think Henry Ford himself would be proud of his namesake’s high-revving turnaround.
“I think the stock goes to $7 if not higher,” speculates Guy Adami.
