Brazil court orders release of airline magnate

SAO PAULO - Court officials say the co-founder of Brazil's second largest airline has been released from house arrest pending the outcome of legal proceedings stemming from accusations he ordered two men killed in 2001.

Constantino de Oliveira, who co-founded Brazil's Gol airline with his sons, was put under house arrest in May for allegedly ordering the killing of a man accused of leading an invasion of one of his properties and of a former employee who also sought to occupy the same piece of land.

A court spokeswoman, who declined to be identified because she was not authorized to comment the matter with the press, said Friday that Oliveira's release was ordered Thursday night. She did not provide further details.
