Dollar Financial adds 4 stores in Northern Ireland

BERWYN, Pa. - Dollar Financial Corp., a pawn shop operator and payday lender, said Monday it acquired four stores in Northern Ireland.

Dollar Financial paid 550,000 pounds ($898,568) for the four locations, including 160,000 pounds ($261,402) for the stores' loan books.

Three of the new sites, which all offer check cashing, payday lending and pawn broking services, are in Belfast. The fourth store is in Lisburn.

Dollar Financial said it plans to expand the stores to include all of its services, including Western Union money transfers, foreign exchange and debit cards.

Shares of Dollar Financial fell 33 cents, or 2.4 percent, to $13.25 in morning trading.
