Covidien gets Canadian OK for generic Cardiolite

ST. LOUIS - Medical device maker and health care company Covidien PLC said Monday it recieved Canadian regulatory approval for a generic version of the heart disease imaging agent Cardiolite.

Cardiolite, which is made by Bristol-Myers Squibb, is used as a diagnostic tool in cardiac stress tests.

Covidien said it expects its generic version of the product to be available in Canada this summer. It also sells generic versions in the U.S., Denmark, the U.K., Germany, and Puerto Rico.

Shares of Ireland-based Covidien fell 69 cents to $35.51 in morning trading.
