Isle of Capri Casinos founder dies
ST. LOUIS - Casino operator Isle of Capri Casinos Inc. said Monday that its founder and chairman, Bernard Goldstein, died on Sunday.
Goldstein was born in Rock Island, Ill., in 1929. After earning his law degree, he worked at Alter Co., an Iowa scrap metal company.
He founded Casino America and opened the first riverboat casino in the South — Isle of Capri Casino — and later retired as CEO in 2008. He served as chairman until his death.
Isle of Capri Casinos owns and operates casinos in Mississippi, Louisiana, Iowa, Missouri, and Colorado.
