KANSAS CITY, Mo. - Railroad operator Kansas City Southern and Wallenius Wilhelmsen Logistics are teaming up to open a distribution center in Texas for Nissan vehicles.

The companies announced the move Thursday. The new center will open at the 800-acre CenterPoint Intermodal Center, 35 miles southwest of Houston.

Once open, the center will allow WWL to ship Nissan vehicles faster to Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma on Kansas City Southern's rail line between Victoria and Rosenberg, Texas.

It also will link the center to Nissan's manufacturing plant in Aguascalientes, Mexico, and the Pacific port of Lazaro Cardenas.
