KOHLER, Wis. - Kohler Co. has filed a federal lawsuit alleging that American Standard Brands infringed on its trademark for One brand kitchen and bath fixtures.
The Kohler, Wis.-based company is seeking more than $75,000 in damages.
According to the lawsuit dated Monday, Kohler has been selling plumbing and bathroom fixtures such as faucets, shower heads and towel bars under the One trademark since 2001.
Kohler says Piscataway, N.J.-based American Standard tried to trademark the same name in 2007 but was turned down by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last year after Kohler complained. It says American Standard began using the name anyway for its own bathroom fixtures.
An American Standard spokeswoman says the company doesn't comment on pending litigation.
