Strong earnings from Apple after the closing bell yesterday, pushed the NASDAQ Composite [COMP

] to positive territory during Wednesday's trading session for the eleventh consecutive day. The NASDAQ composite, which reflects the performance of all companies listed on the NASDAQ Stock Market, has advanced 10% since its close on
July 7.
The last time the NASDAQ Composite had 11 days of consecutive gains was on September 20, 1996, when the index rose 8.35% during that period.
In addition, the NASDAQ 100 [.NDX

], which tracks 100 of the largest domestic and international non-financial securities, was also poised to close up for the eleventh consecutive time, with a gain of 11% in the past eleven days.
Both indices have seen sharp gains in 2009, as investors expect an economic recovery led by technology companies. Indeed, the NASDAQ Composite and NASDAQ 100 indices are currently up 29% and 22% respectively in 2009, compared with a 6% gain for the S&P 500 index [.SPX
