The Latest Picks That Paid – Friday August 7th

Friday, 7 Aug 2009 | 6:03 PM ET

Our traders are good but you knew that! Check out their latest picks that paid in a regular feature we call "Quicker Than The Ticker."

Joe Terranova

On July 27th the Liquidator suggested looking at charge card trades, speculating one was ready to charge up the charts. “I like MasterCard ,” he said. “I like their year-on-year numbers and I expect the payment processing business to continue to grow.”

Looks like Terranova’s swiped himself a bargain. Since he suggested getting long shares of Mastercard have shot up 7%, largely due to an earnings report that beat analysts profit expectations.

Pete Najarian

On July 27th the Pit Boss dug up a coal trade that he suspected was about to turn red hot. “Walter Industries is one of those companies that I think you've got to keep your eye on,” he counseled. “They seem too cheap. I think there's more upside to come. “

Turns out Najarian shoveled more coal into the profit furnace. Since his buy recommendation, shares of Walter have been winner; up 10% after its board announced a quarterly dividend.

Steve Grasso

On July 21st the Governor suggested Apple could improve the health of your portfolio. “At the end of the day, they make a great product,” he explained. “If you know anyone who's got an Apple computer, they tell you they’re never switching. That's it--they have an Apple for life. End of story."

Ben Franklin said an Apple a day keeps the doctor away. We can’t speak to that but lately it’s sure kept the bears away. Since Grasso said he was a buyer, shares of Apple have continued their climb, up 8% after earnings.

Tim Seymour

On July 27th the Ambassador got on-board with GE’s rebound. “I (like) what's going on in their technology group, what's going in their infrastructure group. And actually the finance side hasn't been that bad,” he said.

Since Seymour’s market musings shares of GE have climbed 16%, largely buoyed by an upgrade from Goldman Sachs.

Now that’s Fast Money.
