"The catalyst for this stock to move higher in the short term is that there is a suit that Interdigital filed against Nokia that is due sometime next week. So we think there’s going to be a settlement in advance of the ruling between the two companies, in which Nokia will pay Interdigital a per handset license fee."
Transocean —"We like their longer-term supply/demand fundamentals for oil and transoceans," he said. They have "a strong position in the ultra-deepwater drilling area."
Verizon —"The Apple iPhone and AT&T have been getting a lot of publicity, but [Verizon] is biggest in the country—87 million customers," said Valdes.
"It had strong revenue second quarter right—in line with what they were thinking. They added 1.1 million customers this second quarter."
Valdes does not own any shares of Verizon.
