Leaders and Laggards of the Tech Charge

Tech companies in the S&P 500 [.SPX  Loading...      ()   ] have been a major force in the recent rally, up 15.9% on average since their July 10th lows.  Similar to the analysis we did shortly after the March lows (Tech Laggards Play Catch Up), here is a look at which tech stocks are leading and which are lagging in the recent rally.


Note the following:

  • Jabil Circuit (JBL), Xerox (XRX) and Autodesk (ADSK) were on our Laggards list on March 25th but are now on our Leaders list
  • Lexmark International (LXK) and Juniper Networks (JNPR) were on our Laggards list on March 25th and continue to be so today
  • Micron Technology (MU) and NVIDIA (NVDA) were on our Leaders list on March 25th and continue to be so today
  • Novellus Systems (NVLS), MEMC Electronic Materials (WFR), Akamai Technologies (AKAM), Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) and Sun Microsystems (JAVA) were on our Leaders list on March 25th but are now on our Laggards list
