A Conversation with NFL Legend John Madden

He was, according to legendary producer Dick Ebersol, “the absolute best sports broadcaster who ever lived.” We’re talking about sports legend, John Madden.

His on-camera achievements have earned Madden more accolades than most people receive in a lifetime; 30 years in the booth and 16 Emmy awards to show for it.

But that's just the tip of the iceberg for Madden, TV was just one of many careers.

First he was a star player drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles in 1958, then he became a coach, the youngest in what was then the AFL. After that he led the Raiders to their first Super Bowl victory in 1977.

Now retired from broadcasting and coaching – the Hall of Famer has a new passion and it’s made Madden a household name with a whole new generation: We’re talking about the most popular sports videogame franchise in history --  with Madden NFL 10 from Electronic Arts [ERTS  Loading...      ()   ], the latest edition.

What's the secret to Madden's videogame success?

“We were the first ones. We started over 20 years ago,” Madden tells Fast Money. “We were ahead of everyone from the get-go and we stayed ahead ever since.”

What’s next for John Madden? Find out now! Watch the entire interview above.

And this wouldn't be Fast Money without a trade. So, how are the traders playing video games?

ERTS [ERTS  Loading...      ()   ] is the play but valuations are ridiculous, says Guy Adami. If you’re in the stock you’re hoping that somebody acquires them.

I’d trade the space with Giant Interactive [GA  Loading...      ()   ] or Shanda [SNDA  Loading...      ()   ] , counsels Tim Seymour because online gaming is huge in China.

One day there will be downloadable games and that will be disastrous for GameStop [GME  Loading...      ()   ], muses Karen Finerman.

I like Apple [AAPL  Loading...      ()   ], says Pete Najarian.
