Looking ahead to next week after the three day weekend, one transportation stock is something investors should consider, said Art Hogan, managing director at Jeffries.

"Navastar is a pure play on North American transportation," Hogan said. "It's looking like it will beat the 67 cent estimates when earnings come out [mid week]. This is a stock you can buy now and play the earnings next week."

Hogan was joined in the interview by Gordon Charlop, director at Rosenblatt Securities Managing. He said investors should look to what effect the weather will have on energy stocks.

"I would focus on home heating oil," said Charlop. "Look at materials and energy and be thinking about how much will be used this Fall."
