Fast Fire

They looked like hot stocks. So how are the traders playing Texas Instruments, Las Vegas Sands and more now that they've been burned?

Joe Terranova

On September 8th the Liquidator made his exit in Allegheny Technologies [ATI  Loading...      ()   ]. “Sell the good news,” he said. “They signed a 10 year $1 billion contract with Rolls Royce. This is where you get out of the stock.”

As it turns out he should have stayed for the ride. Since he said sell shares have moved much higher. So what does he have to say, now?

If you didn't get out when I told you, then get out now, he counsels.

Guy Adami

On September 9th the Negotiator thought a chip maker was cruising higher. “Look at Texas Instruments [TXN  Loading...      ()   ],” he said. At 18 times forward earnings TXN a buy. And it’s a nice turnaround story.”

But this ship -- err chip -- has not turned. Since Adami said to get long shares are lower. So what does he have to say, now?

I still like it, he admits.

Tim Seymour

On August 14th  the Ambassador said betting on Las Vegas Sands [LVS  Loading...      ()   ] was not a worthwhile gamble. “Take your chips off the table,” he said. “After a big run in the casino stocks, that’s what I would do.”

But if you let your chips ride you would have done much better. Las Vegas Sands is up big since Seymour said to get out. What does he have to say, now?

There's nothing fundamentally good going on with casinos, Seymour exclaims. I'd still stay away.
