WELLS, Maine - A series of meetings in Maine on possible offshore wind power sites is close to wrapping up as a trade mission focusing on wind power continues.
On Tuesday, the fourth of five public information meetings focuses on a potential site off the coast of Wells. The final session will be held a week from Tuesday in Rockport.
The state planning office and Department of Conservation have been given responsibility for identifying between one and five spots to be used as demonstration sites to test components for deep-water wind farms operating on floating platforms in waters hundreds of feet deep.
Meanwhile, the trade delegation is visiting Germany and Spain. Participants include Maine companies that build, supply and provide logistics for wind projects.
(This version CORRECTS day of meeting to Tuesday instead of Wednesday in the second paragraph.)
