NEW YORK - Time Warner Inc. on Thursday named the chief executive of Schering-Plough Corp. to its board.

Fred Hassan, 63, has been Schering-Plough's CEO since 2003. Before that, he was CEO of Pharmacia Corp. until Pfizer Inc. bought the company in 2003.

Hassan also was CEO of Pharmacia's predecessor company, Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc., which merged with Monsanto Co. in 2000. In addition, he has held various senior management jobs at drug companies earlier in his career.

Hassan is Time Warner's 12th board member.
