POPS (stocks that jumped higher)
Merck (MRK) popped 6%. The drug giant confirmed its full year targets and forecast high single digits earnings growth until 2013. - And they have 15 late stage drugs in the pipeline, says Pete Najarian.
Pulte Homes (PHM) popped 3%. The homebuilder said orders jumped 35% from last year, however the company did report a larger than expected loss. - I think it has more upside, muses Joe Terranova.
DROPS (stocks that slid lower)
Research In Motion (RIMM) dropped 3%. The WSJ reported that RIMM is the most vulnerable to Motorola’s new Droid phone. - I still think it's okay to own this stock, says Joe Terranova.
Dow Transports (.TRAN) dropped 2%. The transportation average gave back some gains after surging higher on Buffett's big Burlington Northern rail deal. - I'd stay away, says Guy Adami.
Saks (SKS) dropped 3%. Lazard cut the company to ‘sell’ from ‘hold,’ with a negative outlook on the retail sector.
Kraft (KFT) dropped 3%. Third quarter sales missed analysts’ expectations; also speculation suggests the company may scrap its bid for Cadbury.
Baker Hughes (BHI) dropped 6%. The oilfield services company released weak third quarter earnings and missed analysts’ expectations due to weak demand.
