(For large-cap stocks to watch, click on) Nov 5 (Reuters) - Some small and midcap stocks to watch on Thursday: SANMINA-SCI CORP, $7.85, up 18 pct The company posted better-than-expected fourth-quarter results and forecast first-quarter earnings above Wall Street estimates. CAREER EDUCATION CORP, $22.10, up 6 pt The education company posted a profit in the third quarter, helped by strong growth in student enrollments. THORATEC CORP, $29.50, up 9 pct The cardiac-device maker posted a better-than-expected quarterly profit and raised its 2009 earnings view. SMITH MICRO SOFTWARE, $7.55, down 17 pct The company's quarterly revenue came in below estimates and it cut its full-year revenue view. ON SEMICONDUCTOR CORP, $7.50, up 10 pct The chipmaker posted a quarterly profit that handily beat estimates, and it forecast fourth-quarter revenue above Wall Street expectations. METROPCS COMMUNICATIONS, $7.10, up 7 pct The company reported third-quarter earnings and sales that beat expectations. HURON CONSULTING GROUP, $25.00, up 7 pct The company reported third-quarter results. CHILDREN'S PLACE , $34.48, up 6 pct The company reported October same-store sales. ANSYS INC, $37, down 11 pct The company posted a quarterly profit that beat Wall Street expectations but it forecast lower-than-expected fourth-quarter revenue. FUEL SYSTEMS SOLUTIONS, $38, up 12 pct The alternative fuel components maker reported a 31 percent rise in quarterly profit and raised its full-year revenue outlook. TRICO MARINE SERVICES, $7, up 12 pct The company posted a surprise quarterly profit, helped by strength in its Subsea Services and Subsea Trenching and Protection segments. MF Global Ltd, $6.30, down 6 pct The company posted its third straight quarterly net loss. SUNESIS PHARMACEUTICALS, $0.56, up 32 pct The company said its experimental treatment for acute myeloid leukemia got orphan drug status.
