[LAZ  Loading...      ()   ]. But the tragic passing of its CEO Bruce Wasserstein has left the company in a lurch.

And now the board appears closer to naming a permanent successor.

Although Steven Golub the interim CEO may keep the job for the next couple of years, according to CNBC’s Charlie Gasparino there’s a more likely scenario.

He says Lazard is leaning toward two other candidates both Lazard executives; they are Gary Parr and Ken Jacobs.

”And if I had to place bets I’d go with Parr,” says Gasparino.

Charlie also tells the desk that according to his sources a decision should come down in the next couple of weeks.

We’ll be watching.
