SAN DIEGO - BAE Systems said Monday it formed a team to compete for a Navy contract to help commanders make better decisions during combat operations.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed.

The BAE-led team includes General Dynamics Corp., Sun Microsystems Inc., Space Dynamics Laboratory, and others.

The team will be competing for a contract that will be upgrading the way the Navy shares and disseminates intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance data.

The new system will allow the Navy to exchange information and data across multiple security domains, warfare areas and environments, according to BAE.
