WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. - Bunge Ltd. on Tuesday said Soren Schroder will become CEO of its North America business, taking over from Carl Hausmann, who will take on the new role of managing director of global government and corporate affairs.

The seed and agribusiness company said the executive changes will become effective Jan. 1, 2010.

In his new job, Hausmann will coordinate Bunge's government affairs, corporate sustainability and community relations globally, the company said. Hausmann has been CEO of Bunge North America since 2004.

Schroder, vice president of agribusiness for Bunge Europe, will lead all of Bunge's business operations in the United States, Canada and Mexico. Schroder has worked in agribusiness leadership roles in the U.S. and Europe since joining Bunge in 2000.

Shares of Bunge rose 55 cents to close at $58.55. After hours, they slid 81 cents to $57.74.
