Taiwan stocks edge higher as TSMC extends gains

TAIPEI, Nov 12 (Reuters) - Taiwan stocks edged up 0.19 percent on Thursday as tech heavyweights such as TSMC tracked gains in the U.S. sector, but DRAM makers slipped after lawmakers refused state-backed chipmaker TIMC's request for government funds. The main TAIEX shares index rose 14.69 points to 7,682.75, extending a four-session winning streak. TSMC, the world's largest contract chip maker, edged up 0.8 percent, while the electronic sub-index rose 0.28 percent.
