VALLEY FORGE, Pa. - AmerisourceBergen Corp. said Thursday the board raised its quarterly dividend 33 percent and approved a $500 million share-buyback plan.

The dividend was raised to 8 cents per share from 6 cents per share and is payable Dec. 7 to stockholders of record on Nov. 23.

The share-repurchase authorization was in addition to $68.1 million remaining on a November 2008 program. The company said it expects to spend $350 million buying back shares in fiscal 2010.

AmerisourceBergen, which provides distribution and other services for pharmaceutical companies, has about 288 million shares outstanding.

The shares fell 29 cents to $23.98 in regular trading Thursday.
