ISTANBUL, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Istanbul-based conglomerate Sabanci Holding said on Friday its net profit rose 67 percent in the third quarter to 454.2 million lira ($307 million), driven by gains in its financial activities. Sales at the group, one of Turkey's leading industrial and financial conglomerates, were 1.906 billion lira in the July-September period, up 5 percent from 1.807 billion lira a year earlier, Sabanci said in a statement. Shares in Sabanci were down 2.63 percent at 5.55 lira, underperforming a broadly weaker market. Sabanci owns a controlling stake in Akbank, Turkey's third-biggest listed lender, which has already announced a doubling of its third quarter net profit to 677.2 million lira. In the first nine months of the year, Sabanci's net profit rose nearly 5 percent to 1.057 billion lira from 1.009 billion the previous year. Sales in the January-September period rose 3 percent to 5.277 billion lira from 5.261 billion a year earlier. It also has interests in the automotive, retail and cement sectors.
