POPS (stocks that jumped higher)
Dow Chemical (DOW) popped 15%. The CEO said Dow’s acquisition of Rohm & Haas "revitalized" its portfolio and should help earnings grow in the next two years. - I think the stock looks cheap, says Guy Adami.
Massey Energy (MEE) popped 10%. Investors may be betting that clean coal technology gets a boost after rhetoric from Obama and other world leaders. - I think it has more to do with rising steel demand, says Joe Terranova.
Flowserve (FLS) popped 5%. As investors grow more optimistic about global growth this maker of pumps, valves and more stands to benefit. - As long as global growth remains in tact I think this stock goes higher, says Karen Finerman.
Monsanto (MON) popped 6%. The company backed its 2010 and 2011 earnings outlook and said it will accelerate its premium corn and soybean roll out. - I'd stay away, says Steve Grasso. This stock appears to be in a longer term downtrend.
Wynn Resorts (WYNN) popped 16%. The casino announced a dividend and may also be riding the coat tails of rival Las Vegas Sands, which said it plans to restart construction in Macau. - It seems to me everytime Jon Najarian goes to Vegas, casino stocks go up, chuckles Guy Adami.
American Express (AXP) popped 8%. This credit card name was among a number of stocks making 52-week highs this week as investors make bullish bets on firms that stand to benefit from recovery.
Barrick Gold (ABX) popped 3%. This gold miner went along for the ride as the spot price of gold danced with new highs.
DROPS (stocks that slid lower)
Macy's (M) dropped 6%. The department store giant issued a disappointing forecast, which triggered new worries about the strength of the consumer.
Genzyme (GENZ) dropped 6%. Stainless steel fragments and other foreign particles were found in a small percentage of the company’s rare disease drugs, U.S. regulators said on Friday. Genzyme could not be immediately reached for comment.
