CHICAGO, Nov 14, 2009 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Blocks Murphy's endorsement in his political base Jason Plummer, Republican candidate for Lt. Governor impressed the New Trier Township Republican Organization Saturday morning, which resulted in winning their endorsement by a large margin. Later that day, Plummer stunned the Murphy campaign by splitting the organizational support in Wheeling Township, Murphy's political base, denying him the endorsement. Murphy needed 60 percent of the Wheeling precinct organization's support to win.

Voters pointed to Jason Plummer's experience and plans for creating new jobs and addressing the culture of corruption in Illinois politics, as the reason for his lopsided victory in New Trier Township and his strong showing in Wheeling Township. "I am humbled and gratified that Republican Party activists are responding to our message and for their support," Plummer said.

In his comments today, Plummer pointed to his belief that many of Illinois' economic woes are the result of failed leadership and feels that his business experience combined with his conservative Republican principles make him uniquely qualified to serve. "We need a leader in Springfield who is used to signing the front of a check, not just endorsing the back," he said.

Plummer added that it appears that many in the Democratic leadership in Springfield have lost sight of the fact that creating new jobs is the answer.

Instead, they have embarked on a path that is easier and more politically expedient but sadly sinks Illinois taxpayers deeper into a financial quagmire.

"The Democratic party leadership in Springfield continues to write checks that we the Illinois taxpayers can't cash," he warned.

"At the same time Springfield punishes Illinois businesses, both small and large, with punitive taxes and frivolous regulations that choke their ability to create new and meaningful jobs and provide healthcare and 401Ks for families," Plummer said.

Plummer continued by saying that taxpayers are fed up with the cost of graft and corruption in Illinois. "Everyone knows that the monkey business that occurs and the sweetheart deals that are cut in Springfield come out of the pockets of taxpayers. Ultimately that behavior has cost taxpayers their hard earned money; it has cost Illinoisans' jobs. Plain and simple, that behavior is no longer acceptable," he concluded.
