LONDON, Nov 16 (Reuters) - Gold ounces transferred between accounts held by bullion clearers rose 1.2 percent to a daily average of 20.8 million ounces in October from a month earlier, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA) said on Monday. The clearing statistics measure how much gold and silver are transferred on a net basis between the accounts held at the bullion clearers. Based on an average fixing of $1,043.16 an ounce, 4.7 percent above the September average, value rose to a daily average of $21.8 billion. The number of transfers declined 0.8 percent to a daily average of 1,908. Measured year-on-year, gold statistics were mixed. Ounces transferred fell 13.1 percent, value rose 12.4 percent and the number of transfers dropped by 15.3 percent. Ounces transferred in silver fell 10.5 percent to a daily average of 101.1 million. Based on an average fixing of $17.23, 5.1 percent higher than the previous month's average, the value of transfers fell to a daily average of $1.74 billion. The number of transfers fell 15.9 percent to a daily average of 341.
Measured year-on-year, ounces transferred fell 25.7 percent and value rose 22.5 percent. The number of transfers fell 40 percent.
