In what may be a new record for gall and speed, tabloid fodder has been turned into bizarre marketing opportunity in the Tiger Woods scandal.

Spirit Airlinesis running animated ad on its website showing a tiger (the animal, not the golfer) driving an SUV into a fire hydrant, promoting an "Eye of the Tiger" deal—$9 fares.

Word of the ad first got out on TMZ. Spirit is a bargain-basement airline based in Florida, but I doubt Woods, who owns his own jet, has ever been a passenger.

But does the airline's ad fly?

Is it funny?

Would you buy a ticket?

It will certainly get the company media coverage (including this blog), which is probably the entire point. A lot more people will know about Spirit Airlines by the end of the day than did at the beginning.
