To Team Closing Bell 2009!
What a year! 2009 will soon be in the record books and for Team Closing Bell, it's been one of the busiest years ever. I have to thank my teammates - who have worked countless hours to produce some of the best content on CNBC.
We've conducted thousands of interviews this year whether it's at the New York Stock Exchange or somewhere on a field assignment. We’ve spoken to many current and former head of states, hundreds of top executives around the world, government officials and academics in 2009. It's impossible to name every single interview this year but I will try to highlight a few.
World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos has become a January tradition. The meeting often sets the tone of the issues we will hear about throughout the year. Look for us to report live from Davos again in January 2010!
During the G-20 meeting in London back in March, we had the opportunity to sit down with the President of South Korea Myung-Bak Lee and learned a great deal about that region. South Korea will host the G-20 summit next year. We will bring you those stories in November of 2010.
Our trip to Moscow and St. Petersburg in June was very special as this was our first trip to Russia. Maria and I had the honor of meeting and interviewing President Medvedev. We will continue to zero in on what’s happening in Russia.
Fast forward to September, President Clinton hosted the Clinton Global Initiative in New York. It's the organization's fifth meeting. We had the privilege of sitting down with President Clinton again this year. During the same week, United Nations also held their meetings. President Lula granted us an exclusive interview with him.
Our top CEO interviews of the year include: IBM's Sam Palmisano, Citi's Vikram Pandit, Pepsico’s Indra Nooyi and Pfizer's Jeff Kindler and of course many others.
In the past three months, we produced a special series on Closing Bell called “Exchange”. We took our show live to the trading floors of BlackRock, Morgan Stanley, Barclays and many more. I would like to thank all the firms who gave unprecedented access to your trading floors.
Finally, I would like to thank our team of producers: Han-Ting Wang, Donna Burton, Zev August, Liza Tan, Dorian Langlais, John Cook, Brad Quick, Dan Leon, Silvana Henao. They help me “make it happen” everyday. What we do wouldn't be possible without our tech team, who perform TV miracles everyday, our directors Elizabeth Donovan and Steve Blazo lead our tech crew in and out of the control room. And a special shout out to production manager Geoff Cortelyou, who has worked with me on many field assignments.
Last but not least, a big thank you --- to our viewers and blog readers! We would love to hear from you, the stories you're interested in 2010. To a great 2010!
