And even though it was taken more than 30 years ago, it’s so controversial that Terry McDonell, editor of the Sports Illustrated group, says that even today, he wouldn’t consider putting that shot on the cover.
As part of my documentary, “Business Model: Inside The Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue,” I talked to Tiegs, the photographer Walter Iooss and Jule Campbell, the editor of the magazine at the time.
