Calls Of The Day: Solar Stocks, Bonds & More

Find out what top analysts are saying about solar stocks, bonds and more. How should you be positioned, now?

High Yield Bonds

PIMCO says high-yield bonds could post investment returns in the high single digits to the low double digits this year.

They believe investors can capture attractive yields and excess spreads in the high-yield market with relatively low default risk.

What should you make of it?

PIMCO is a fixed incomes shop so of course they say that, says Karen Finerman. I'm an equities gal so I like equities. Instead of bonds, I'd look at some blue chips names like IBM .

Solar Stocks

Analysts at Deutsche upgraded China-bases solar companies Yingli, Trina Solar, Suntech , and ReneSola all to ‘Buys” cutting lower costs than their Western rivals.

“We are positive on the China solar energy sector and expect Chinese solar PV module manufacturers to be the major beneficiaries of the global demand growth in 2010,” they write in a research note.

“We believe the Chinese players’ low-cost structure and increasing brand recognition will allow leading Chinese manufacturers to weather a likely ASP declined and capture more market share.”

What should you make of it?

Most other analysts are bringing down estimates on the same names, says Pete Najarian. All I can think is after getting so beaten up, maybe they're getting attractive.

Nike

Goldman Sachs added Nike to is Conviction Buy list with a $78 price target citing attractive valuations and strong profit margins.

What should you make of it?

Nike stock has been trapped between $61 and $65 for several months, says Pete Najarian. But, I also think there's upside.
