In the quest to help Americans fight the battle of the bulge 3 new pills may be coming to market by the end of the year all from different companies.

That's good news for the millions of people struggling to control their weight but what does it mean for investors?

Regulator could make decisions on all 3 drugs by the end of the year.

What must you know?

These are binary events, explains CNBC’s pharmaceuticals reporter Mike Huckman. Either they get approved and the stocks likely rally or they don’t and the stocks likely get crushed.

And after the Fen-phen debacle expect FDA scrutiny. I expect the feds to go through results with a fine tooth comb, he says.
