AFTER HOURS ACTION: VISA
In extended trade shares of Visa slipped lower, despite a quarterly report which showed revived consumer spending drove profit up 33%.
The San Francisco payments processor says it earned $713 million, or 96 cents per share, in the first three months of the year, up from $536 million, or 71 cents per share, a year ago.
Wall Street, on average, expected profit of 91 cents per share.
What must you know?
I think it’s just profit taking, says Guy Adami. I’d consider buying the pullback.
AFTER HOURS ACTION: BAIDU
Shares of top Chinese Internet search firm Baidu skyrocketed higher on Wednesday after the company smashed quarterly profit forecasts largely because advertisers flocked to Baidu after Google departed China.
What’s the trade?
Baidu currently trades at an expensive multiple; 65 times 2010 earnings compared with Google which trades around 19.5 and Yahoo which trades around 26, explains Tim Seymour. I don’t love the name on valuation but I think on the release more people get on board with the story.
