Fast Personal Pt. 2: Plastic Profits - The Business Of Beauty

In honor of NBCU’s 'healthy week,' we're finding you the fast money in the lifestyle choices we make every day.

We call it Fast Personal and in part 2 of our 5 part series we present a consumer discretionary play that's a 'cut' above the rest -- literally.

Forget facelifts and chin implants; these day’s you don’t need deep pockets to get rid of deep wrinkles.

Cash-conscious, cosmetically-minded patients are dodging the knife and choosing cheaper procedures instead.

Don’t believe us.

In 2009 as the worst of the recession raged Americans still underwent 10 million cosmetic procedures with a whopping 85% of them being non-surgical.

Considering an average treatment of Botox costs $382 while a facelift runs $6,298 – non-surgical procedures save patients a boatload.

But there’s more to the trend than watching your wallet – Botox takes 30 minutes while that face lift puts you out of commission for two weeks.
