Top Tech Picks From #1 Tech Analyst

Wednesday, 7 Jul 2010 | 5:47 PM ET

Over the last few days we spotted what may be a noteworthy trend. Both Doug Kass of Seabreeze and Bill Fleckenstein of Fleckenstein Capital -- two somewhat bearish guys -- told us that given current market conditions they’re bullish tech.

That’s right – bullish.

Sector Trade: Tech
Discussing whether there is a tech turnaround, with Heather Bellini, ISI Group analyst.

As you might remember from Tuesday’s Fast Money, Kass said in anticipation of a second half snap-back "go with technology for beta."

Then on Wednesday’s Halftime Report Bill Fleckenstein told the desk tech appeared poised for "a decent rally" and revealed he’s longMicrosoft because he thinks Mr. Softy is hitting on all cylinders

If they’re right, can you game the sector broadly? Or should you play stock picker?

For insights we can’t think of anyone better to turn to than top tech analyst Heather Bellini of ISI. She tells the desk, in technology, investors must be selective, a rising tide will not necessarily lift all boats.

Bellini explains that "secular growth names have smashed through 52-week highs and revenue and profits have hit levels not seen since before the downturn."

As a result she thinks there are only a handful of good secular growth names (left) in tech and in this environment investors must make sure their picks have runway.

Ahead of the broadcast she suggested the following 4 stocks:

VMware

Salesforce.com

Red Hat

Oracle

* For an explanation of why Bellini likes some of these names watch the video above!
