Getting Schooled by Walter Isaacson

Walter Isaacson, President & CEO of the Aspen Institutelinked economic prosperity, tech innovation and everything to education. In an interview with Maria from the Aspen Ideas Festival, Isaacson shared some of his revolutionary ideas on how to improve what's going on in the classrooms.

Longer School Days: Isaacson says the school day should be extended until at least 6PM. And he says the school year should be 11 months long-meaning a much shorter summer vacation time for kids.

Society has a lack of culture of respecting science and mathematics, said Isaacson. Isaacson is convinced that is the key to success going forward.

Sustainable Economy: When it comes to financial services Isaacson said, “You can't have a sustainable US economy without a great education system. Teach students to do the job right.” Isaacson added, “You don't have an innovative economy unless you have a great education.”
