A Conversation with ArvinMeritor CEO Chip McClure

Tuesday, 3 Aug 2010 | 5:40 PM ET

The traders were keeping a close eye on ArvinMeritor after the company posted lower than expected results.

The parts maker reported adjusted earnings of 2 cents per share from continuing operations. Analysts on average expected it to report earnings of 6 cents per share according to Thomson Reuters.

However there were some bright spots to the report.

Sales from continuing operations rose 35 percent to nearly $1.3 billion due to stronger truck demand in Europe and the Americas, it said. Analysts had expected $1.2 billion.

The company also said it had nearly completed a planned light vehicles business divestiture to focus on truck parts.
