After Barnes & Noble, Others Seeking 'Alternatives'?

Shares of Barnes and Noble surged this week after the company said it's exploring strategic alternatives including an outright sale.

That led the Fast Money traders and Robert Samuels of Phoenix Partners to speculate which other companies might make a similar move. Samuels present the desk with the following list:

RadioShack

American Eagle

Bebe Stores

Collective Brands

Finish Line

Abercrombie & Fitch

All of the names listed above have had lagging stock prices and "management could be looking for a way to unlock value with a strategic alternative," says Samuels. That doesn't mean they're necessarily up for sale; Samuels says they could do a strategic buy back.

And make no mistake, this is just speculation from the desk, but it's well worth watching. "The Barnes & Noble news sparked a conversation and I think (buyers) are at least taking a look," he adds.
