Volatile Week For China Trades?

Tuesday, 21 Sep 2010 | 5:27 PM ET

Resource trades and other plays related to China may become a bit more volatile over the next few days as investors position themselves for pops and drops ahead of next week’s meeting between President Obama and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao at the UN.

What’s on the itinerary?

A wide range of “China-U.S. relations and other regional issues of shared interests,” according to assistant Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin in Beijing.

However, White House spokesperson Robert Gibbs confirms that the strength of the yuan will be front and center on the President’s agenda.

Obama to Meet With Premiere
A look ahead of what investors should expect from the President's meeting with China's Premiere. Insight with David Riedel, Riedel Research Group.

"It is obviously an issue of concern ... and I anticipate it will be one of the many issues that will be brought up," Gibbs said at a daily news briefing.

What’s the China trade? For insights we turned to one of the most respected authorities on China, David Riedel of Riedel Research.

He tells us his play is long JOBS and EDU, l as a bet on the employment picture and education picture in China. Both stocks trade here in the US though both companies are headquartered in China.
