How Top Manager's Fund Gained 30%

Natixis Loomis Sayles Mid Cap Growth Fund is up nearly 30 percent in a year. So why did it outperform?

The fund's portfolio manager Philip Fine shared his strategy with CNBC.

“We had some big winners in half a dozen or so of our large tech holdings,” said Fine.

Fine said he looks for companies that have strong management.

His top five holdings are Netflix , F5 Networks , Baidu , Cummins and Salesforce.com .

In terms of the overall market, though, Fine said that it's overdue for a pullback.

"We’ve had a great six-week run," he added.
