Pops & Drops: AMR Corp., DSW, Garmin and More

The Dow rose 26.41 points Wednesday, or 0.2 percent, to close at 11,215.13, which is the highest close for the blue-chip index in more than two years.

The S&P and Nasdaq also ended higher. Here are some individual stocks that grabbed the attention of the "Fast Money" traders:

POPS (stocks that pushed higher)

AMR Corp. (AMR) popped 6%: The parent company of American Airlines is a 'top pick' among US carriers, said JPMorgan Chase, adding that the company will turn a significant margin corner in 2011. Joe Terranova, chief market strategist at Virtus Investment Partners, said this is a mean reversion trade. Because other airlines have been up significantly higher, money will likely flow out of those names and into AMR because it's lagged and is now expected to go higher.

DSW (DSW) popped 3%: The footwear retail giant raised its earnings forecast for the full-year after reporting third-quarter results that beat Wall Street's consensus. Options trader Pete Najarian said this company is making all of the right moves, hitting a 52-week high and yet remains "fairly valued."

DROPS (stocks that moved lower)

BlackRock (BLK) dropped 4%: The world's largest asset-management firm claims two of its largest shareholders — Bank of America and PNC Financial — plan to sell 42 million shares. That news put some pricing pressure on the stock, said Guy Adami of Drakon Capital, adding that he would buy BLK if it drops to $155 a share.

Garmin (GRMN) dropped 5%: The portable navigation maker reduced its full-year forecast after reporting third quarter results Wednesday, which didn't meet expectations. Veracruz founder Steve Cortes said its chart is "terrible" and would sell this stock.

Electronic Arts (ERTS) dropped 4%: While second-quarter earnings results showed a loss that wasn't as bad as expected, options trader Mike Khouw said their guidance isn't going to meet expectations. He thinks it's hard to know what will be their momentum will be in the year ahead and wouldn't recommend buying this name.
