By now you've heard that Google is giving all of its employees bonuses and raising their salariesto keep them happy.
Why would anyone who has a job in this economy be UNHAPPY to work for Google?
One word.
Facebook.
Glassdoor.com, a website where people anonymously post their salaries and rate their firms, has come out with some numbers comparing Google salaries to peers in Silicon Valley.
According to their numbers, the average software engineer at Google makes $98,800 a year. That's less than a software engineer at Apple ($99,000), Yahoo ($102,000), Cisco ($106,000), and...wait for it...Facebook ($110,500).

When you add in average annual bonuses, that same Google software engineer currently takes home a total of $120,178.
There's only one company where a software engineer makes more when you add in bonuses: Facebook, where the total averages $122,400.
As for how Google employees rate their company, they give it a score of 3.9 on a 5-point scale.
In the entire list of large Silicon Valley tech companies rated on Glassdoor — Apple, Cisco, eBay, HP, Intel, Oracle, Yahoo, etc.— only one company has a higher score among it's employees.
