Ronald from Illinois writes, "Why -- when we have a great boost in gold futures -- do only a few of the gold equity plays actually participate in the gains?

The XME is down, along with GDX, GDXJ, and most other gold miner stocks I track. Only the GLD and ABX seemed to participate to the upside today Wednesday November 24th. Can someone explain this trading disparity when one is playing in future contracts?
