Art Cashin, director of floor operations at UBS Financial Services, sings the praises of a turkey-stuffing recipe made with White Castle hamburgers. He shared the formula with CNBC.com in the following email:
The original recipe for “White Castle Stuffing” was sent to me by my friend, Steve and his team in Minneapolis. Another friend, Bo, modified it for the East Coast taste. It’s actually quite tasty and tends to spur conversations and memories around the table.
Here is Bo’s version of White Castle Thanksgiving Stuffing:
First things first, go to White Castle on Wednesday night around 8:00pm. Pick up two Crave Cases of hamburgers (makes two trays).
Put crave cases in fridge and we’ll start in the morning.
30 White Castle Hamburgers – pickle removed
1 ½ cups diced celery
1 teaspoon ground sage
1 teaspoon ground thyme
¼ teaspoon coarse ground pepper
¾ cup chicken broth
I like to quarter burgers with a knife rather than tearing. Put into a large mixing bowl. Add celery and sprinkle seasonings than mix. Add broth and mix again. Put in tines. Slide in oven and warm to liking.
Tune in to CNBC TV Wednesday afternoon to see Art Cashin — and CNBC employees sample the actual "White Castle Stuffing."
