Pops & Drops: Boston Beer, Amgen

Following are moves you might have missed. Find out why shares of Boston Beer and Amgen popped while Morgan Stanley and Netflix dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

Boston Beer (SAM) popped 13% this week. The maker of Sam Adams raised its current-year profit view and forecast robust 2011 earnings on strong shipment volumes. - It wouldn't surprise me to see this stock split, says Joe Terranova.

Amgen (AMGN) popped 7% this week. Data suggested one of the company’s drugs already on the market to treat osteoporosis may also be effective in the treatment of cancer. - I like the action in this stock and the options, says Jon Najarian.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Morgan Stanley (MS) dropped 3% this week. Goldman, Nomura and Sandler cut their estimates on the stock with lower-than-expected trading volumes among the concerns cited. - I would not short this name, says Karen Finerman.

Netflix (NFLX) dropped 6% this week. Chatter on the Street generated in part by Whitney Tilson of T2 suggested valuations may be too extreme. - I think there are better places to put money to work, says Brian Kelly.

Best Buy (BBY) dropped 17% this week. The company reported a surprise drop in sales, citing weakness in "TVs, mobile computing and gaming software." - I expect the stock will turnaround but not before more downside, says Guy Adami.
