Web Extra Pops & Drops: St. Joe, Dangdang...

Following are moves you might have missed. Find out why shares of St. Joe and Titanium Metals popped while Dangdang and Yahoo dropped.

POPS (stocks that jumped higher)

St. Joe (JOE ) popped 5%. Already a prominent shareholder, Bruce Berkowitz sold a $1.7 billion stake in General Growth Properties triggering speculation he may put more money to work in St. Joe.

Titanium Metals (TIE) popped 5%. With Boeing a major client, perhaps investors were cheered to hear the aviation giant had only delayed delivery of the 787 Dreamliner to Q3 of 2011 and not longer as some analysts had expected.

Smith & Nephew (SNN) popped 4%. A weekend report suggested that Johnson & Johnson was weighing a formal takeover offer.

Vodafone (VOD) popped 5%. A Barron’s article suggested a long position in Vodafone may be a smart way to play a bullish outlook on Verizon’s new iPhone because Vodafone holds as 45% stake in Verizon. They also said it has a healthier business and trades at a discount to VZ.

DROPS (stocks that slid lower)

Dangdang (DANG) dropped 8%.According to published reports, the China based firm’s CEO lost his temper and used China’s biggest Twitter-like microblogging service, Sina Weibo, to accuse Morgan Stanley of “undervaluing his company’s initial public offering” and then he insulted a user who claimed to work for the financial services firm.

Yahoo (YHOO) dropped 2%. Morgan Stanley downgraded the stock to 'Equal Weight’ from ‘Overweight’ with a price target of $19 citing “deteriorating fundamentals.”
