JetBlue CEO: Fare, Fee Hikes Expected

Thursday, 27 Jan 2011 | 1:15 PM ET

After reporting fourth-quarter earnings, JetBlue executives said in a conference call that it will continue to pass rising fuel costs onto consumers by way of increased fares. It was a sentiment echoed by CEO Dave Barger, who appeared on Thursday's "Fast Money Halftime Report."

Barger said the company is hedged against rising fuel costs not so much that he is expecting a spike, but because the New York City-based airline typically takes the high-end of the curve. In other words, it plans for the worst and hopes it never happens.

Call to the Floor: JetBlue CEO
Dave Barger, CEO of JetBlue, discusses the airline's latest quarterly results and tells CNBC how the cost of energy will affect its bottom line.

In addition to fuel costs, Barger discussed how a snowstorm that struck the northeast might affect business. To watch the full interview, check out the video.

After the broadcast, Barger stuck around to discuss a variety of issues, including international expansion, infrastructure and why the airline's most popular market is also its newest. To see that interview, watch the video.
