The U.S. still leads China when it comes to research and development. That's one reason why Kanundrum Capital's Brian Kelly likes Apple.
U.S. companies will spend 2.7% of their GDP on R&D in 2011, according to Battelle, R&D Magazine. China will spend just 1.4%, according to the study. Apple increased R&D spending 34%in 2010 to $1.8 billion, making it one of the leading American companies in terms of capital invested on new development.
