Trader Najarian: Strong Options Activity In This Name

Monday, 4 Apr 2011 | 1:13 PM ET

As The Blackstone Group shares approached a three-year high on Monday, trader Pete Najarian noted the options were busy, too.

Options traders bought the May 18 call options, covered the open interest and have now extended past that level, the optionMONSTER.com co-founder said. By midday trading, more than 4,500 options had changed hands. Najarian said there may be some upside expectation, even though these aren't out-of-the-money calls.

"These are at-the-money, now in-the-money calls. So they weren't coming after something expecting to see this stock go to $20, but it's certainly performing well," Najarian said.

Anthony Scaramucci, managing partner of SkyBridge Capital, said it's hard not to like Blackstone's stock .

"They have a world-class franchise, fat dividend yield and is one of the best managed private equity firms," Scaramucci said. "If you believe like I do that there will be a resurgence in these names, as they come back into vogue, Blackstone would be the number one pick."
