There was big IPO news on Thursday as car-rental firm Zipcar surged over 60 percent while the largest franchisee of McDonald's Arcos Dorados soared more than 30 percent.

But unless you work for the companies or the Wall Street firms that handled the IPOs, you had zero chance of getting in on the action. Is that unfair? Do you feel cheated by the IPO process?
